An exciting evolution for Jo Rose Design

An exciting evolution for Jo Rose Design

by Jenny Ostoj April 02, 2020

The past year and a half have been an amazing opportunity of growth for me personally and professionally as a maker. I have so much gratitude for the lessons I have learned from building Jo Rose Design and I am especially thankful for your support!

A New Direction

If you have browsed my site lately, you likely know my creative interest took a turn toward dog gear after getting two puppies last spring (which turned me into a full-on dog mom ;-) hah!). After several months of reflection, I have determined that my heart is happiest combining design and function for dogs and their humans.

So that I am able to fully focus on this path, I have decided to transition away from bags and accessories under the Jo Rose Design brand.

Final Bags + Accessories Inventory

The final bags and accessories inventory is now listed under a new closeout section. I hope that you will enjoy these products as much as I loved making them! All of these styles were made in small batches, so if you love having unique pieces, consider snagging one at a great price before they are gone!

Two Doods Manifesto

And without further ado, I'd like to present the new manifesto for Two Doods by Jo Rose Design:

We stand for a world where every dog is valued and adored.
We believe they teach us to be more kind, patient, and light-hearted.
We smile more when dogs are around.
We believe in the joy of everyday adventure.
We believe that life moves fast, but moments should be savored.
We want to bring joy and connection to the community we serve.
We stand for craftsmanship and smart design.
We believe that quality matters, for ourselves and for our pets.
We strive to learn and grow every day.
All with our dogs by our side.

A commitment to social change
A commitment to social change

by Jenny Ostoj June 08, 2020

As a small business owner and maker, personal life and work are almost fully intertwined for me. Until now, I held my personal views closer to my chest for fear of alienating others. But the more I learn about social injustice, the more I realize I cannot stand in silence any longer. Having poured over the real stories and hardships of our Black community over the past week, I now understand that the livelihoods of others depend on my voice, and all of our voices. I have been ignorant and complacent for too long. Here is my commitment toward this movement.

Product Spotlight: Commuter Backpack

by Jenny Ostoj May 21, 2020

I am so excited to officially announce that the Commuter Backpack is now available!

This ridiculously cute dog backpack has launched in four color options -- navy blue, hunter green, burgundy red, and chocolate brown -- with coordinating plaid interior.

It might be helpful to understand a bit about my background to see how the pieces lined up for this product to come to life.

Several years ago I started to make bags and accessories (for humans) that fit needs for travel, work, and life under the brand name Jo Rose Design. Organically this evolved into prototyping stylish yet functional products I desired as a dog owner.

Super simple sweet potato dog chew recipe

by Jenny Ostoj April 30, 2020

These days, many people are finding themselves baking and cooking more at home. I’ve enjoyed way more than my fair share of homemade brownies, cookies, and scones. To the point that my waistband has called for a time out.

So I’ve started seeking out recipes and treats to make for the pups instead. One of our current favorites is SUPER easy and only takes one ingredient: A sweet potato or yam!
